Beliefs, Mission, & Goals

We believe that:

  • Each person needs to be treated with respect, patience, understanding, & fairness.
  • Each person deserves a safe learning environment. Students have a right to learn and teachers have a right to teach.
  • Students have a right to be educated to their greatest potential.
  • Cooperation between home, school, and community is essential to a quality education in a changing world.
  • All children can learn in an appropriate environment.

Mission Statement

Our mission at Honea Path Elementary in partnership with students, parents, and community members is to mold students into lifelong learners and productive, responsible citizens by ensuring success of essential academic standards in a safe and positive learning environment.


Learning to Learn

  • Students will make a commitment to creating quality work and striving for excellence.
  • Students will use a variety of learning strategies, personal skills, and time management skills to enhance learning (e.g., adaptability, flexibility, perseverance, self-discipline, goal setting, planning).
  • Students will reflect on and evaluate their learning for the purpose of improvement. 
Thinking and Reasoning Skills
(Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Creative Thinking)
  • Students will gather and use information effectively to gain new information and knowledge, classify and organize information, support inferences, and justify conclusions.
  • Students will utilize, evaluate and refine the use of multiple strategies to solve a variety of types of problems.
  • Students will generate new and creative ideas by taking considered risks in a variety of contexts.
